Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign gave fresh momentum to this initiative.

Ministers, Members of Parliament, officials, farmers, youth, and a large number of citizens participated in the main event held at the PBG Ground, Central Ridge, near Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, conveying a message of environmental conservation.

The program commenced with the watering of plants and the singing of ‘Vande Mataram,’ followed by a collective tree-planting drive. People across the country planted saplings with great enthusiasm. Playing a pivotal role in the campaign, the Vriksh Mitra Parivar encouraged everyone to plant at least one sapling.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan appealed to every citizen to plant at least one tree a year and to involve five other people in this campaign. He emphasized planting trees on special occasions and ensuring the regular care of the saplings planted.

Delhi Minister Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that, inspired by this campaign, more than one lakh people in Delhi have been engaged in tree plantation. Schools, colleges, and institutions are also being encouraged to plant trees for environmental conservation.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that Hariyali Amavasya is a festival to express gratitude towards nature. He emphasized the importance of not only planting trees but also pledging to care for and conserve them. He remarked that tree plantation is a significant step towards ensuring a secure future for coming generations.

Shri Chauhan also stated that environmental conservation is essential for agriculture, water, soil, and health. He emphasized the balanced use and conservation of nature, alongside adopting Mission LiFE, energy conservation, and a plastic-free lifestyle.

On this occasion, Member of Parliament Shri Darshan Singh Chaudhary, along with representatives from various institutions, officials from agricultural universities, staff from ICAR, DARE, and KVKs, and members of the ‘Vriksh Mitra Parivar’, were present.
