Nitin Nabin Slams Congress Over Women’s Reservation Bill, Calls Opposition ‘Anti-Women’…

Date:

NEW DELHI, INDIA — BJP National President Nitin Nabin strongly criticised the Congress party over its stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill, accusing it of betraying the interests of women across the country.

Speaking in Delhi, Nabin said that the initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could have marked a historic moment for women’s empowerment, describing it as a day that might have been “written in golden letters.” However, he alleged that the opposition, particularly the Congress party led by Rahul Gandhi, had obstructed this opportunity.

He accused Congress and its allies of forming what he termed an “anti-women alliance,” claiming that their actions had denied women a significant opportunity for greater political participation. According to him, the bill was aimed at ensuring rights and representation for half of the country’s population, and any resistance to it undermines that objective.

Nabin further alleged that the conduct and language used by opposition leaders during parliamentary discussions were inappropriate, stating that such behavior reflects poorly on their commitment to democratic values and women’s empowerment.

He also indicated that the BJP would mobilize public support on the issue, saying that the party plans to raise awareness and take the matter beyond Parliament. He claimed that women across the country would question the opposition’s stance and demand accountability.

The BJP leader emphasized that the Women’s Reservation Bill is a major reform aimed at ensuring 33% representation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, and described it as a long-pending demand that the current government is working to fulfil.

The remarks come amid intense political debate over the bill, with sharp exchanges between the ruling alliance and opposition parties on both its intent and implementation.

Nitin Nabin’s comments reflect the escalating political confrontation over the Women’s Reservation Bill, as parties continue to clash over one of the most significant proposed reforms in India’s democratic framework.
