Major Infrastructure Push: DMRC Launches Central Vista Corridor Work at Central Secretariat Metro Station

Date:

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) commenced construction work on Wednesday at the Central Secretariat Metro station for the Central Vista corridor. This station is being developed as part of the extension of the existing Magenta Line—running from Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram Marg—under Phase-5 (A).

Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, Manohar Lal, along with Secretary Mohua and senior officials from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, were present on the occasion.

Providing details, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs stated that the Central Secretariat station will become a triple-interchange station, with the new Magenta Line station seamlessly connecting to the existing Yellow and Violet Lines. This unique feature will prove highly beneficial for government employees and commuters travelling to the Lutyens’ Zone and surrounding administrative districts.

It is worth noting that this corridor spans 9.913 kilometres. It comprises nine underground stations: Shivaji Stadium, Yug Yugin Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha.

This project marks a significant step towards strengthening connectivity to the heart of New Delhi, providing easy access to key government offices, judicial institutions, national monuments, and convention venues, while simultaneously enhancing overall network efficiency and passenger convenience.
