Bhupender Yadav Chairs ASSOCHAM Conference on Electric Mobility Vision for Viksit Bharat

New Delhi: Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav presided as the chief guest at the national conference organized by ASSOCHAM in New Delhi on the theme “Electric Mobility: Making India an Electric Mobility Hub for a Developed India.” At the conference, policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders discussed accelerating the pace of EV (Electric Vehicle) adoption in India and strengthening the country’s role in global manufacturing.

Discussions aimed at promoting EV adoption under ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and establishing India as a global electric mobility hub emphasized policy continuity, improved charging infrastructure, local manufacturing, battery supply chains, financing, and innovation.

Addressing the inaugural session of the conference, Mr. Yadav stated that India’s transition towards electric mobility is not merely about replacing one technology with another—it is about creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem that strengthens manufacturing, generates green jobs, and advances the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Yadav stated that India’s shift towards electric mobility goes far beyond a mere technological transition; the aim is to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem that boosts manufacturing, generates green jobs, and supports the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.

Mr. Yadav stated that India needs to move away from the “take-make-dispose” model and transition towards a circular economy based on reuse, recycling, and sustainable resource utilization. He emphasized the need for robust charging infrastructure, local manufacturing, secure mineral supply chains, battery recycling, and efficiency. (PIB)
